Dew Tour opener in Maryland of Red Bull Hats

On the skateboard side of the Dew Tour’s Ocean City halfpipe Red Bull’s Pierre Luc “PLG” Gagnon – the defending 2010 skate vert Dew Cup champion – rode his brains out and placed 2nd to rival Bucky Lasek, and ahead of Shaun White. In a 1st/2nd showdown that could have gone either way, PLG put up an 87.75 early in the comp that no one was able to touch until Lasek raise the bar by less than a point (88.50). PLG had one last shot at ‘er, but sketched on a trick on his final run and handed the win over to Lasek.

One of the most core BMX park contests in the sport’s history went down this past weekend at the Pantech Open – the first round of the 2011 Dew Tour – in Ocean City, Md. Red Bull rider Marco Simoncelli also didn’t finish, crashing at Laguna Seca for the second year in a row. Simoncelli has been brilliant in qualifying, but not in the races. He was in fifth when he crashed on the seventh lap, after feeling the front end slip earlier in the race.
